Artist’s Statement

Michael Venables has been making photographs for nearly four decades. He learned exposure and darkroom techniques in his high school photo club and he later began developing his photographic vision through an ad hoc mentor program in Montreal in the Seventies.

Since then, his travels to six of the seven continents and formal courses have helped to refine his personal style. Through his rural and urban landscapes, Mike captures the unique character of the everyday exotic of places near and far.

Mike is a member of the Ottawa West Arts Association.
